WHAT IS AN ANALYSIS? 

The dictionary meaning of the word analysis is; the process, solution or analysis performed to understand the quality or quantity of simple substances in its composition in order to examine a substance. In English; words such as analysis, assay, test, dissection are used as the equivalent of the word analysis. The word “analysis”, which means research or examination, is understood as the analysis of substances found in body fluids in order to make a diagnosis in health facilities. When health institutions talk about “I had an analysis done, I will get the analysis result, my analysis result was high, the doctor requested an analysis”, what is actually meant is a medical analysis. 

What are the most common tests? Blood tests and urine tests are the most common tests performed on body fluids. Although it is often very easy to take a sample for a urine test, many people are hesitant about blood tests. In fact, there are many people who turn pale and faint when they see the needle. While it is easy for a nurse to take blood, it is very difficult and almost impossible for some people to give blood. However, blood and urine tests are the greatest aids for doctors in making diagnoses. 

Why are tests performed? For many years, the amount of chemical substances found in the body fluids of healthy people has been investigated and how these substances change in the event of a disease has been examined. The changes detected have made it easier for doctors to diagnose diseases. While the number of tests performed on blood or urine was limited years ago, today it has increased greatly and continues to increase every day. 

Why are blood and urine important? In many diseases, tests are performed to diagnose diseases because the amount of some substances found in blood or urine changes. Since blood and especially urine are the easiest body fluids to obtain, it is also extremely easy to diagnose diseases in this way. While blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the cells in the body, it also takes away the substances or wastes produced by the cells.
