If you undergo a medium chemical peel:
Redness, swelling, peeling, and stinging are expected reactions that may last up to 48 hours. Peeling usually improves within 7-14 days. The skin should be washed as instructed and thoroughly dried before applying the recommended ointment. Avoid sun exposure and reapply sunscreen frequently, even indoors.

If you undergo a deep chemical peel:
The treated area is typically bandaged after the procedure. The recovery process usually takes 14-21 days.
