Dermapen
What is Dermapen?
Dermapen is a microneedling treatment used to improve scars, acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and rejuvenate the skin. It initiates the skin’s self-healing process by promoting wound-free healing and natural collagen production. Also known as collagen stimulation, Dermapen is also effective for sunspots.
Dermapen is a device brand, not an application. Other needle devices are also available under the Dermapen name. Unfortunately, treatments performed outside of the original device often cause skin damage rather than benefit.
How Does Dermapen Work?
During the Dermapen procedure, vibrating needles create micro-channels in the skin, activating the skin’s own healing mechanisms. At the same time, mesotherapy solutions applied to the area, such as hyaluronic acid, PRP, or CGF, are easily absorbed through the channels created by the Dermapen, allowing the tissue to regenerate much more quickly and healthily.
What are the benefits of Dermapen?
The prominent benefits of the dermapen application to the face are:
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Sunspots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Large pores
- Increasing decreased skin elasticity
- Correction of skin irregularities
Dermapen (microneedling) is also sometimes used to treat stretch marks on other parts of the body. When used in combination with fillers, it is also an effective treatment for stretch marks on the legs and abdomen. Dermapen treatment can also be used on scars on other parts of the body.
How is Dermapen Performed?
Before the treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected, and an anesthetic cream is applied. During the Dermapen treatment, small needles are inserted under the skin using a pen-like device. Hyaluronic acid, mesotherapy solutions, or PRP may be applied to the treated area if necessary. The treatment takes approximately half an hour. Depending on the skin condition, it can be performed in 2-6 sessions. Sessions are spaced one month apart.
How Long Is the Recovery Time After Dermapen?
Dermapen is a non-surgical procedure, so recovery time is minimal. You may experience some redness in the first few days following the Dermapen procedure. This is a natural response to the small, controlled trauma to your skin caused by the needles. After Dermapen, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is a must after the procedure.
How Long Does Scaling Last After Dermapen?
On the second day after Dermapen, redness may subside and give way to crusting. While crusting doesn’t usually occur, if it does, it will quickly fall off within the third or fourth day, leaving behind a brighter pink texture.
Does Dermapen show its effects in the first session?
Most patients begin to see results after their first treatment. Dermapen results are fully visible after four to six weeks. With repeated treatments, the results become more noticeable, and the skin gradually becomes more youthful.
