Eyelid Filler
What is Upper Eyelid Filler?
Our face ages from the top down, and one of the areas where signs of aging are most noticeable is around the eyes. As we age, skin sagging and various other issues commonly develop in the eye area.
Due to volume loss, the upper eyelid may sag, making a person appear older and more tired. A small touch of filler can address these issues and restore a younger, more refreshed look.
What is Upper Eyelid Filler?
Upper eyelid filler, performed with hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers in a clinical setting, aims to restore volume to the subcutaneous tissues that have diminished due to aging. This filler helps tighten the skin on the upper eyelid, giving it a firm and youthful appearance.
How is Upper Eyelid Filler Applied?
In an upper eyelid filler procedure, the eye area is first treated to avoid infection. The specific area for filler injection is determined during a prior examination and consultation. The procedure is typically done without anesthesia, although topical anesthesia may be applied in rare cases. The filler is usually injected just behind the orbital bone. For lower eyelid filler, about 0.3 to 0.5 cc of filler material is typically injected into the tear troughs. The procedure is completed in just a few minutes, and patients can return to their daily activities immediately after.
What Are the Effects of Eyelid Filler?
- Eyelids appear tighter, with light reflecting optimally.
- A more open and brighter eye expression is achieved.
- Wrinkles on the eyelids are minimized.
- Sagging on the eyelid and eyebrow areas is lifted.
- A youthful, upward-looking expression is created in the eyes.
Is the Effect of Eyelid Filler Permanent?
The duration of the effect depends on the individual’s skin type and other factors. The first application of hyaluronic acid-based fillers typically lasts about a year. Subsequent filler treatments tend to have a longer-lasting effect.
