Injection Lipolysis

What is Injection Lipolysis?

Injection lipolysis is a localized fat reduction method that involves injecting phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate medications into the fat tissue. The injected substances help dissolve the fat in the targeted area.

How Does Injection Lipolysis Work?

When lipolysis is injected into the body, it increases the permeability of cell membranes, causing the broken-down fat cells to be eliminated by the liver. This process helps reduce the number of fat cells and eliminates localized fat deposits without causing the skin to loosen.

When Does the Effect of Lipolysis Begin?

The effectiveness of lipolysis varies from person to person. The number of sessions will depend on the individual’s fat problem. Results from the first session typically begin to appear after 2 to 3 weeks. However, the fat melting process continues for a longer period. The number of sessions generally ranges from 3 to 6 or 4 to 8, depending on the individual’s problem.

Where Can Injection Lipolysis Be Applied?

Injection lipolysis can be applied to areas with localized fat deposits, such as post-pregnancy fat, under the chin, arms, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, and buttocks. The results are more permanent when combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise.

Is There Pain or Discomfort During Injection Lipolysis?

There is no pain involved. The procedure is done using very fine needles, similar to mesotherapy needles. Mild redness, sensitivity, warmth, and sometimes small bruising can occur in the treated areas. However, these side effects resolve quickly.

Who Should Not Undergo Injection Lipolysis?

  • Individuals with heart failure
  • Individuals with liver or kidney conditions
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women

Post-Treatment Care for Injection Lipolysis

Since the fat is broken down through the liver, alcohol should be avoided during the recovery period. Sunbathing and tanning beds should also be avoided during the treatment process. Once the treatment is completed, and any sensitivity or bruising has healed, there are no restrictions on sun exposure for patients who have undergone injection lipolysis.
